Card making Die cutting How to Stamping Techniques Card Making
Make the most of alcohol markers in your stash for easy and effective designs. This technique is an old favourite – it’s quick and easy, and produces a different effect every time. What’s more, you’ll have another use for the collection of markers in your stash. For this card, you’ll need a plastic sheet – you could reuse packaging or a document wallet. Simply scribble your markers onto the plastic, mist with rubbing alcohol and let the ink react. Press card on top, then peel away to reveal a multi-coloured background!
YOU WILL NEED:
Dies: Julie Hickey 3D Heartfelt Blooms; oval nesting
Stamps: Julie Hickey 3D Heartfelt Blooms, Garden Treasures
Ink pad, black
Cardstock: white, black, pink, green
Alcohol markers
Rubbing alcohol
Gem, silver
Adhesives: glue, 3D foam pads
Die-cutting machine
METHOD:
1. Take your alcohol markers and draw stripes of colour. Repeat with one to two more colours until the sheet is fully covered. Mist with rubbing alcohol and allow the ink to react. Press card onto the plastic, then lift to reveal your design.
2. Trim the inked panel to 10.5cm x 15cm. Die cut a 10cm oval from white, and one slightly larger black oval. Layer the two together and glue to the centre of the background.
3. Form a white blank, 11.5cm x 16cm. Glue the background in the centre. Make an alcohol-ink piece on white card, 8cm square, and die cut petals from it.
4. Die cut a flower silhouette from pink and layer the inked petals with 3D foam pads. Add a silver gem in the centre and glue the flower to the front. Fix a stem and petals.
5. Stamp a sentiment in black ink onto a 2cm x 9cm strip of white card. Mount onto black and glue to the card front.
