Bringing you a quartet of Scandi motifs and three sentiments to pair them with, the trend might be minimalist but there’s nothing ‘minimalist’ about designer Beverley Brown’s techniques she’s used on her cards below.

Colouring on kraft
To match the Scandi style of these digi stamps, Beverley has used kraft card to enhance the natural and rustic look of this popular trend. Not only will it add texture to your cards, but other colours will pop. If you’re colouring directly onto kraft card with alcohol markers, be sure to test the pens first on a scrap piece and let them dry to show you the true colour you’ll get. Alcohol markers will always give you a different colour on kraft card compared to white.

Added extras
Beverley has incorprated foiling on some of her cards using the Heidi Swapp Minc Foiling machine. If you’d like to give this particular gadget a go, you’ll need to print out the digi stamps using a laser printer. You can then foil the motif using a transfer foil according to the machine’s instructions. To cut down on waste, Beverley’s ‘Merry Christmas’ bauble card uses foil left over from another project – it’s a great way to get the most from your foils.

Two in one
If you want to give your recipient a card to remember, give Beverley’s bauble card bottom-right a go. Foil and cut out the motif, frame it within a circular aperture, and suspend it from the top with a baker’s twine bow. Why not make the bauble detachable so your loved one can keep it and hang it from their Christmas tree? A card and gift in one… now that’s a neat idea!

Peace, Love, Joy
Create a card panel on your computer. Place the Christmas tree, angel and bauble digi stamp motifs onto the blank to create a background, then print onto white card. Colour in the images with colouring pencils. Trim the panel and mount onto red card, then onto Kraft card. Print the ‘Peace Love Joy’ sentiment onto Kraft card, snip and adhere to the card front using 3D foam pads.

Christmas Tree
On your computer, create your chosen sized panel. Upload the Christmas tree motif and enlarge to fill the blank from top to bottom, ensuring only half the image is visible from the left-hand side. Add a sentiment in the top-right corner. Print onto Kraft card, colour in the motif, then mount the panel onto a Kraft blank with 3D foam pads.

Bauble Aperture
Make your chosen sized card panel on your computer. Upload the bauble digi stamp and change the size so it fits within a 10cm diameter circle. Print the bauble onto white card using a laser printer. If you didn’t want to foil, you can change the colour of the digi stamp to red and print with a normal printer. Foil using red transfer foil and the Heidi Swapp Minc Machine according to the instructions. Cut out the bauble and punch a small hole in the hanging area of the bauble. Die cut a 10cm diameter circle from a 12.5cm square piece of white card. Thread baker’s twine through the hole in the bauble and adhere using double-sided tape to the reverse of the die-cut panel. Mount the panel onto white card, 12.5cm square with 3D foam pads. Layer onto red card, then onto a 14cm square white blank. Embellish with a baker’s twine and adhere using strong glue.

Foil Bauble
Using the left-over foil from the previous card, adhere onto scrap white card with glue. Smooth the foil over the top and leave to dry. Create a slimline card panel on your computer, position a sentiment towards the bottom and print onto Kraft card. Trim around the bauble shape, ensuring to leave a narrow border. Punch a hole in the hanging section and thread with baker’s twine. Attach the baker’s twine to the reverse of the Kraft panel and add a bow. Fix the bauble in place with 3D foam pads. Adhere the panel onto a white slimline blank.

Love Birds
Create your card panel on your computer and add a sentiment, then print onto white card. Using a laser printer, print two birds onto red card. Trim the sentiment panel, mount onto Kraft card and adhere onto a white slimline blank. Foil the birds using white transfer foil and the Heidi Swapp Minc Machine according to the instructions. Cut out the birds and secure the birds to the card front with 3D foam pads.
