Issue 150 Designer For The Day

Die cutting Papercraft Papercrafter Stamping Techniques Projects

One of the kindest things you can do to another human is share a passion with them, and that’s exactly what Lore’s grandmother did. It resulted in Lore becoming a wildly talented maker, as you can probably tell – and considering it’s our 150th issue, it’s fitting that the make we’re featuring on this page is so obviously influenced by the crafters that came before it.

YOU WILL NEED:
Patterned papers, Simply Vintage Designs paper pack
Embellishments: Simply Vintage Designs Stitchwork; charms, pins
Dies, Sizzix Bigs Swan
Die-cutting machine
Heartfelt Creations Sweet Peony Stamp and Die Collection
Blank canvas

METHOD:
1. Tear around the edges of music score paper, then glue to the centre of a painted canvas. Apply white gesso to the edges of the music note paper to help it blend in to the canvas behind. Tear pages from an old book, roll them into thin tube shapes, then adhere on the left and right-hand sides.

2. Die cut a swan and wing from grey chipboard, then cover each element with book page paper. Die cut a small and larger oval from book pages, then colour with blue distress inks. Glue the smaller oval to the bottom of the swan, then add ruffled lace underneath it.

3. Fix the wing to the body with 3D foam pads and the swan to the larger oval, again with 3D foam pads. Using the Heartfelt Creations Sweet Peony set, stamp flowers and leaves onto book pages, then die cut. Colour with distress inks and watercolour pens.

4. Stamp ‘All good things are wild and free’ onto a small piece of paper, then cut out. Fix to the right-hand side, with the right edge slotting underneath the outermost tube. Embellish with lace, charms, and pins to complete.
