Outer Space Digi Stamp Cards

Get your colouring pens
Use alcohol markers to expertly colour in your digi stamps. You can go all-out with vibrant hues, as you can see on our birthday card motifs – check out that bright orange flame! Don’t forget that a barely-there look can work well too. When colouring in the cloud, simply apply a light wash of grey around the outside. If you want your cards to look professional, then graduated colour is the key. When shading in the girl’s hair, for example, make sure you adjust your pen pressure to create a realistic finish.

Create inked backgrounds
Our designer Claire Richards has created galaxy-inspired backgrounds in two different ways. You can apply Distress Resist Spray to white card. Leave it to dry, then blend blue, pink and yellow Distress Oxide inks all over it. Not only does this make it look like there are loads of stars, but it also creates a really satisfying texture. Alternatively, you can try a softer look. To make our ‘Wish upon a star!’ card, enlarge the sentiment and print out onto white card. Apply blue, pink and yellow Distress Oxide inks over it, then spritz with water and leave to dry.

Don’t forget the finishing touches
It’s possible to elevate these digi stamps beyond a spot of colouring in. Team them with space-themed papers – Claire has used prints from the My Mind’s Eye Blastoff collection – and throw in some acrylic or gold sequin stars. Highlight areas with a gold glitter brush pen for a touch of luxury. Plus, the Lawn Fawn Happy Birthday Line Border die makes for a lovely addition on the birthday card. Finally, once you’ve coloured in small elements such as the little moon or a collection of stars, why not cover the motifs with Ranger Glossy Accents for a slick finish?
