At PaperCrafter magazine we have a huge selection of free digi stamps for you to download and craft with! Our digi stamps range from seasonal designs such as Christmas and Easter to cute characters, flowers, animals and more. With just a few clicks of your mouse, you’ll have access to over 400 digi stamps – offering plenty of crafty possibilities!

So what exactly are digi stamps? They are essentially black and white outlined images – similar to ‘clip art’ – which, once downloaded, can be printed onto your choice of paper or card and coloured in. They take the hard work out of regular rubber or acrylic stamping – there’s no need for ink, or worrying that your ink is going to blur or transfer where you don’t want it to. You can achieve clean, crisp lines when printing digi stamps. Any inkjet printer will work fine; you don’t need expensive, fancy equipment. Just make sure you wait a few minutes for your printer ink to properly dry before colouring them in.

At PaperCrafter magazine, we have a fantastic range of free digi stamps. We have original artwork, which includes: gardening digi stamps, a printable alphabet (perfect for cheat lettering and calligraphy), flower digi stamps, border designs, afternoon tea digi stamps, butterfly motifs, circus digi stamps, mandala printables and more. Plus, we have a brilliant selection of Christmas digi stamps, such as gingerbread village digi stamps, Christmas sentiments, and elf digi stamps.

We have also collaborated with a number of top craft brands to offer you a range of designer digi stamps. We have designs from Tattered Lace, Kaisercraft, Uniko, Di’s Digi Stamps, Crafter’s Companion, Kate Hadfield Designs, Little Miss Muffet Stamps, Debbi Moore Designs, Rare Earth, docrafts, Clearly Besotted and Hunkydory Crafts. Make sure you check them out.

The style of digi stamps can vary greatly. There are simple, almost cartoon-like images that are the easiest to design and colour in. That doesn’t mean, however, that digi stamps can’t have a more artsy quality. Details such as lines on an animal to indicate fur are brilliant – as a crafter, you will colour over it like normal, but the design will have more depth and a designer quality. Mandalas and other mindful motifs are also a great option for digi stamps.

If you’re tech-savvy, you can change the size of your digi stamp to suit your cardmaking or papercraft needs, or even use programmes such as Adobe Photoshop or free image editing websites to layer and arrange your images before printing them. Some digi stamps are actually able to be coloured in digitally before printing as well, saving you another job! If you do decide to edit or enhance your collection of digi stamps, make sure you keep the original file separate from those altered versions – that way, if you want to try a different form of editing, you can work from the original file. Create as many additional files as you like!

Digi stamps allow you to experiment with different mediums. For example, if you print your image onto glossy, coated paper, you can use embossing powder on the printed area for a 3D effect – just make sure you work quickly so the ink doesn’t dry out. Other options include printing onto printable acetate which you can then colour in for a stained glass window effect, or you could even utilise fabric transfer paper so that you can print a design onto a T-shirt or other garment. The more you craft with digi stamps, the more crafty possibilities you’ll discover.

For papercrafts and cardmaking, you can use any card or paper that will go through your printer. Most models take up to 160gsm but there are some printers that will work with paper up to 260gsm. Experiment with different weights until you discover what works best for you. You’ll also want to make sure that your printer hasn’t run out of any ink colour to ensure a clean finish on your digi stamps. But if the lines are faint, don’t worry too much! They’ll just look like more realistic stamped designs – there is no right or wrong in crafts!

You can colour in digi stamps with any colouring medium you like. Alcohol markers often work best for a professional finish, and they allow you to create depth and lifelike effects with accents, shading and graduated colour. You can also use colouring pencils, paints and inks to colour in your digital stamps. The most important thing is to enjoy the process – colouring is a very enjoyable, soothing activity and is brilliant if you’d like to practise mindfulness. Why not print lots of digi stamps and colour them in while listening to music or watching TV? Do what makes you happy. Once you have a collection of coloured-in digi stamps, you could keep them protected in a plastic wallet and use them later on for cardmaking, papercrafters, home decorations and more.

One of the best things about digi stamps is that they save space! Crafting materials can take up a lot of space, so another benefit of digital stamps over rubber or acrylic stamps is that they don’t take up physical space in your craft space or home – you can just save them down in a folder on the desktop of your computer for easy access. If you’re struggling for space on your computer’s hard drive, you could opt for a USB stick – they’re really cheap these days! – that you could leave on your craft desk as a reminder when you’re making. Forget large cases of stamps and ink pads!

If you’re really creative and have a bit of artistic flair, you could make your own digi stamps. If you’re good at drawing, all you need to do is sketch out a motif in pencil that you can imagine someone colouring in – simple is best, but you can still add details as well if you want. Once you’ve done that and are happy with the design, simply go over the drawing with a black fineliner pen and scan it into your computer. Ta-da – you’ve created a digi stamp! If you’re savvy with a computer, you can then manipulate your drawing to make it crisp and perfect – and also alter the file type to offer crafters more possibilities. Share them on a craft blog or simple with your fellow creatives – there’s nothing better than sharing the crafty love!

At PaperCrafter magazine, we pride ourselves on our digi stamps range. It’s a craft method that’s becoming more and more popular. Crafters love a free printable, so digi stamps are an excellent way to save money and try more frugal crafting. But they also allow you to experiment without worrying about waste. If you make a mistake, you can simply print them again – all you’re using is a sheet of A4 paper and a bit of computer ink. Take a look at our digi stamp collection and see which designs take your fancy. There’s a motif or style to suit every type of crafter, and we’re adding more free digi stamps all the time so you’ll never be short of inspiration.
